We will start sightseeing in the oldest part of Wrocław, Cathedral Island. A charming neighborhood which for centuries played a role of „Vatican” of Silesia, and was politically independent until 1824. After visiting cathedral of St. John Baptist and majestic collegiate church of Holy Cross, we will find out how and why Wrocław was established.
Than crossing picturesque islands we would head toward university district. On our way, we will explore old monasteries by Odra river, with most beautiful of them – the monastery of Knights of the Cross with the Red Star. We will also talk about literature and intangible heritage of Poland, as the monastery holds today a famous Ossolineum Library. Than we will see main edifice of Wrocław University – the biggest Baroque building in this part of Europe. We will explore its splendid interior design and talk about famous scholars who worked there. If we get tired we can have a little stop in one of the cozy coffee shops, and then we will be heading to the very heart of our city, to the amazing market square. On our way, we will pass several charming spots, such as medieval prison or old slaughterhouse adopted as art gallery. While we reach main market, which is one of the biggest in Europe, we will also see Wrocław’s most recognized landmark, the gothic town hall.
